International Cultural Exchange
Between 2014-2015, Niki Nepia (Owner/operator of Puawai Jade) participated in The World of Jade's International cultural exchange. Already fluent in traditional Maori style carving, Niki wanted to further push his creativity and technical ability. The exchange enabled Niki to exhibit in China under various master carvers.
Below you can see pieces made by Niki during the cultural exchange to exhibit his learnings and new skill.
These pieces below were carved by various carvers that were a part of The World of Jade Museum's International cultural exchange between New Zealand and China. The stone for these pieces was sourced from the Qilian mountains bordering the Gansu and Qinghai provinces of China. These sculptures can be seen on display at our Rotorua store.
